While DH is working hard every weekday digging, I've been digging in work stuff. To get my head out of the computer, this weekend my BFF KC and I went to the
Glendale Bead Museum. Unfortunately they don't allow pictures so you'll have to check out their website. It's located in downtown Glendale on the West side of Phoenix (59th Ave and Glendale area). There's a gift shop on one side and the exhibits and showcases on the other. They have impressive collections of beads from several centuries as well as recent creations.
One display case contained the beads created by the museum's members and demonstrated the variety of ways to make, bake, shape and design beads. I liked the ones made from ostrich eggs and the embroidered bead designs.
When we were in Happy Camp in 2008 I took classes in seed bead jewelry and made some lovely bracelets so here's a couple of pics of my own beading attempts!
We had lunch afterwards, yummy old style Mexican food at La Perla. With the great weather it was a nice outing for a Sunday afternoon.
