I have a business meeting in San Diego this week so DH and I came over early for a late anniversary celebration. As always, the weather is beautiful here, it makes me understand the mellow California attitude.
Mike's out for his 2nd round of golf and I'm sitting by the pool reading Steinbeck's Travels with Charlie that I found at a used bookstore downtown. I love looking through used bookstores and seeing how the owners think by the way the categorize different books and genres. It's a form of prospecting in my mind!
We walked along the beach Saturday at sunset and had dinner near the gas light district last night. Having someone to share time with is one of the best parts of being together.

Adventure
It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power" Alan Cohen

Three Years
Today is our anniversary! Three years have zoomed by and as you can see from earlier postings, we've packed a lot of adventure into that time. We have a trip to San Diego planned for the end of the month to celebrate. Maybe we'll take along the metal detector to explore along the beach.
Sadly, DH's sister passed away last Sunday so we're 2,000 miles apart today as he went back to NC to be with her family.
I love you Mike!

Around town at the Bead Museum
While DH is working hard every weekday digging, I've been digging in work stuff. To get my head out of the computer, this weekend my BFF KC and I went to the Glendale Bead Museum. Unfortunately they don't allow pictures so you'll have to check out their website. It's located in downtown Glendale on the West side of Phoenix (59th Ave and Glendale area). There's a gift shop on one side and the exhibits and showcases on the other. They have impressive collections of beads from several centuries as well as recent creations.
One display case contained the beads created by the museum's members and demonstrated the variety of ways to make, bake, shape and design beads. I liked the ones made from ostrich eggs and the embroidered bead designs.
When we were in Happy Camp in 2008 I took classes in seed bead jewelry and made some lovely bracelets so here's a couple of pics of my own beading attempts!

We had lunch afterwards, yummy old style Mexican food at La Perla. With the great weather it was a nice outing for a Sunday afternoon.

The 2009 Season
Today, DH started on the 2009 prospecting season in Stanton. While I hold down the home front in the city, he'll be digging with a new, larger dry wash. Another new gizmo is his VCube satellite TV antenna which is easier to transport, store and setup then the disk satellite and stand. Good thing the temps have finally dropped below 100 degrees.

When I get out to the dig site, I'll add some pictures here, for now, here's a pic from our trip in July to get out of the heat. We went to Fool's Hollow Lake outside of Show Low, AZ. Highly recommended!
