Kickin' back

Mike's settled in Hiawasee after doing two nights out on the trail and reaching 50 miles more or less.  It poured down rain today in his part of Georgia so lots of folks called for a shuttle from the Hiawasee motel where he's parked.  So... Mike helped out driving the shuttle van.  He shuttled one lady hiking in a full length gown, believe it or not, she said it was comfortable.  Another lady was accompanied by her parrot.  For more stories of hikers check out the Trail Journals here. 

Back to the trail

Mike struck out again this morning from where he left off last week.  He had some big climbs to make, lot of uphills and downhills and made it to Whitley Gap Shelter.  He'll be out on the trail this week, aiming to get back to Hiawasee for the Masters golf finale.  He's been spotting falcons riding the thermal... its much warmer weather in the mountains now and he left the clothes for cold weather back in the TC.   While he's gone, I'm getting some house projects orchestrated.  The outside of the house is getting a new paint job and I'm hoping to have the sprinkler system updated.

We had a nice family Easter dinner here and an Easter Egg hunt. I love seeing my nieces and nephew laughing and running around to find the eggs their Mom and Dad hid in the yard. B.'s a big scooter rider and the girls are soooo pretty! Dad and Marilyn brought some beautiful flowers I'm so lucky to have such a great family!

April Bash

Mike's gone to Franklin, NC to help out at the Hiker Bash this weekend.  He's got a parking spot for his home on wheels in the center of things and plans to help shuttle hikers around the area.  The weather's turned warm and clear so it should be a great weekend.  I wish I was there! 

I'm getting ready on the home front for Easter dinner after church.  Family and friends, some Easter eggs and good eats.  What's your favorite memory of Easter?   I remember my Mom made us three oldest girls matching white dresses and different colored pastel coats one year...so special.   I went to sunrise service a time or two at Papago Park just off McDowell.  And I have this picture of my son almost 2 years old laughing by his Easter Basket. Hope you all make some happy memories this holiday.
